 JUNIOR PACKAGE SESSION FORMAT​ 

  • 30 minute enrichment session
  • 30 minutes of semi-private group lessons 
  • 15 minutes of FreeSkate time 

​​Junior, intermediate and senior enrichment sessions
 enrichment sessions are taught by our skate Canada certified instructors in a group setting.  enrichment sessions will focus on specific skills based on the needs and development of the skaters and will vary from session to session.  SKILLS will include, technical stroking, DEEP EDGE PATTERNS, TURNS, JUMPS, SPINS, PERFORMANCE, interpretation and CARDIO BASED CIRCUITS.

Open session information

Open sessions are for club skaters who are looking to advance basic figure skating skills. Open sessions are also available for our package skaters who want additional technical practice for their skills and solos. Open sessions consist of a 15 minute stroking session. Stroking is INSTRUCTED BY ONE OF THE CLOVERDALE SKATE CANADA PROFESSIONAL COACHES and works ON BASIC STROKING, EDGES, TURNS, JUMPS, SPINS, FIELD MOVEMENTS, AND OVERALL PERFORMANCE AND SKILLS. ALL STARSKATE LEVELS CAN REGISTER for open ice SESSIONS.
 

Junior package information

The junior package is an invitation only program for skaters who show natural talent and ambition to persue the sport of figure skating. Skaters in this program are required to skate two package sessions per week, and at least one open session if they are competing at the star 2 level. Junior package skaters also participate in extensive off ice training.

The intermediate senior package is a progression from the junior package and is also invitation only. Skaters in this program work as a group, independently, and under a coaches direction. Intermediate skaters are competing or testing star 3-4 and senior skaters are competing or testing star 5 and above. Intermediate senior skaters also participate in extensive off ice training.

​THIS PROGRAM IS INSTRUCTED BY COURTNEY HOWE-SMITH, SKATE CANADA PROFESSIONAL COACH & CERTIFIED BCRPA Personal trainer and  JR.FIT INSTRUCTOR

OFF- ICE TRAINING WILL CONSIST OF A COMBINATION OF STRENGTH, ENDURANCE AND FLEXIBILITY EXERCISES DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR FIGURE SKATERS. THE PURPOSE OF THIS OFF-ICE TRAINING IS TO ENHANCE THE ABILITIES OF ALL OUR ATHLETES IN A WAY THAT WILL FURTHER BENEFIT THEIR SKATING CAREERS. TRAINING WILL TAKE PLACE IN A GROUP FORMAT, HOWEVER SKATERS SPECIFIC NEEDS WILL BE INDIVIDUALY RECOGNIZED AS NEEDED THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.​
